Anyone can claim rigour. What distinguishes it is where the effort goes — and most of ours goes into places nobody will ever see.

The least data that does the job, and no more. Personal information we do not hold cannot leak, cannot be sold and cannot be subpoenaed. Restraint is designed in at the schema, where it cannot be quietly undone.
Backups are restored, not just taken — an untested backup is a guess. Failure modes are designed before launch, not discovered after. Software that matters is built for its worst day.
Every system we build has deliberate limits, and we write them down where users can read them. Software that is honest about its boundaries is software you can safely rely on.
Boring, proven infrastructure. Small dependency trees. Code a person can read end to end. Simplicity is not a lack of sophistication — it is what sophistication looks like when it is finished.
Decisions are written down with their reasoning, so they can be revisited deliberately rather than rediscovered by accident. We build as though the person maintaining this in a decade is someone we like.
